Step 1 – Attach Brackets to Window or Wall
Inside Mounts
· Attach the end brackets to the top corners of the window opening using the included
screws.
o Brackets are labeled “Right” and “Left”.
Install so that the bracket lock faces the room and swings up.
o If the valance has custom returns, place the end brackets and valance onto the headrail and measure
the distance from the back of the bracket to the valance return. This measurement
will tell you how far back the bracket must be mounted in order that the valance fit properly.
· If your wood blinds came with center support brackets, place the wood blinds in
the end brackets. Mark the wall/ceiling where the center support brackets will
go. Center support brackets should be spaced evenly and not interfere with lift
cords. Remove the wood blinds and install the center brackets with the included
screws.
Outside Mounts
· Position the wood blinds centered over the window at the desired height. Mark the wall/trim at the ends of the headrail.
· Mount the end brackets on the wall/trim 1/8th of an inch outside the marks, making
certain the brackets are level to one another.
· If your wood blinds came with center support brackets, place the wood blinds in
the end brackets. Mark the wall/trim where the center support brackets will go. Center support brackets should be spaced evenly and not interfere with lift cords. Remove the wood blinds and install the center brackets with the included screws.
Step 2 – Complete the Installation
· Install valance clips onto the headrail, making certain the clips do not interfere
with headrail components or cords.
· Place the wood blinds in the brackets in the window.
· Close and lock the end brackets.
· Install the valance on the headrail.
o If your valance came with adjustable valance clips, you may have to first take the clips apart,
leaving the headrail portion of the clip attached to the headrail. Attach the
valance portion of the clip onto the valance by laying the clip flange into the valance groove on the back of the valance,
then twisting ¼ turn (“V” portion of clip should face UP). You will
then be able to attach the valance to the headrail by sliding the two pieces of the clips together again.
· Test the wood blinds to ensure controls work properly.
·
WARNING: Children can die from strangulation
in cords. For child safety, always ensure your cord controls are outside of a
child's reach. You may want to purchase and install cord cleats or something similar so that you can hang
the cords up out of reach of children.
· Your wood blinds are now installed!
