Shutter Classic is honored to have been selected to work with the professionals at
Ladies' Home Journal in making
over a living room featured in their April 2007 issue.
We recommended using our
custom Basswood Plantation shutters. In addition to being our best seller, our Basswood shutters are 100% made in America. They are constructed entirely of North
American hardwoods at a factory in Texas.
These pictures show our custom Basswood shutters with 3-1/2" louvers
installed inside the window opening with Hanging Strip Frames on three sides (left, right, and top). Each shutter features
two panels and a divider rail.
There are a couple of interesting details captured in the photos:
In order to create additional backspace, Hanging Strip Frames were
used to mount the shutters partially into the room. This allows the 3-1/2" louvers to open fully without bumping into the
window.
The sides of the Hanging Strip Frames extend about 1/4" below the
shutter panels. This allows the frame to rest on the window sill while still providing clearance for the shutter panel to
swing open. A Sill Strip sits on the window sill behind the shutter to prevent light from entering through the 1/4" gap.
We suggested our Basswood shutters because they are highly customizable
to meet individual tastes. In addition to seven standard stains and three standard paint options, custom paint colors are
FREE. Just give us the details and we’ll buy the paint and apply it to your shutters. The shutters featured in the Ladies'
Home Journal project were coated with Benjamin Moore’s Super White 33302, semi-gloss, aqua glow, interior latex
paint.
