Push Button Wood Blinds:
Imagine being able to tilt your wood blinds open or closed with the push of a button on a remote control, allowing you
to enjoy privacy, shade, or light whenever you desire. You will soon realize that you are using your blinds more often
because of the ease and convenience. That means that you will enjoy open views more often and protect your valuable
carpet and furnishings from the sun’s harmful rays. Motorization (remote control) even extends the life of your
blinds by reducing the wear and tear associated with manually operation. All this is possible when you motorize your
wood blinds. You can order any of our horizontal wood blinds motorized at the factory.
Convenience:
Motorization is the perfect choice for wood blinds that are difficult to reach.
It is great for blinds that are on high walls. If you have furniture in front of your windows, why not remote control
your blinds instead of leaning over the furniture? Many new homes have large soaking tubs with windows across from them.
Instead of stepping into your tub every morning to open or close your wood blinds, why not just motorize them?
Safety:
Motorization eliminates tilt control cords. If you have small children, cords can be
a strangulation hazard. Eliminate tilt cords with remote control. This is what made this system the winner of
the Window Covering Manufacturers' Association 2001 Best New Safety Innovation.
Quality Motors and Components:
Woodmill Premium Wood Blinds are high quality wood blinds. Therefore,
we use only the highest quality motorization and remote control components made by Harmonic Designs, Inc. We even offer
the same high quality system for you to retrofit your existing wood blinds with motorization. Harmonic Designs
is the wireless division of Somfy, who has been motorizing interior and exterior window coverings and awnings for years.
We use Harmonic’s heavy duty XL-series motor for strong, reliable performance. Another great feature is that this
motor is virtually silent. You will not hear annoying grinding motor sounds echoing through your house when you tilt
your wood blinds.
All components are neatly tucked away inside the head rail of your wood blinds. There are no unsightly cords or
wires to deal with. Since the motor is battery powered, you do not even need to plug it in.
Battery Life:
Even though we use the heavier duty XL-Series motors, you can still expect to enjoy
a battery life of up to 5 YEARS. This is based on one cycle per day using four AA lithium batteries. This is a
stark contrast to cheaper quality units where batteries will wear out in as little as only 3 to 6 months!
Radio Control or Infrared Control:
There are two different types of remote control motorization for
your wood blinds: radio control and infrared control. Infrared control is standard. This comes with a sleek
one button hand-held remote control. To tilt your wood blinds, simply point the remote control at your blinds and push
the button. Push once to start the blind tilting. Push it again to stop at any point. Push it again to start
tilting in the opposite direction. The motor in the headrail comes with a small satellite eye receiver with a 5 inch
lead wire that must be positioned outside the headrail so that it can receive the signal from the hand-held remote control.
Line-of-site is required between the remote control and the satellite eye receiver. One remote control can operate an
unlimited number of wood blinds. To operate more than one blind, simply press the button and wave the controller across
all wood blinds you desire to operate.
The radio controlled option offers more features than infrared. First, the range of the radio remote control is
19 feet through 2 concrete walls, or 100 air feet. The radio controlled option does NOT have a satellite eye receiver
and does NOT require line-of-site between the controller and the wood blinds. You can operate single or multiple wood
blinds by simply programming them to the same channel.
With radio remote control, you have your choice of a 1 channel or a 5 channel remote control. With a 1 channel
remote control, each blind must be programmed to the same channel. When you press the "open" button, all blinds will
begin to open. When they are opened to the desired position, you can press the "stop" button. Blind motors may
differ in the speed at which they open and close different blinds. Thus, if you want all your blinds to open to the
same exact position, I suggest you consider the 5 channel remote.
With the 5 channel remote control, you can program different blinds to operate on different channels. This is a
great choice when you have blinds that are close to each other but you want to operate them independently. In this same
manner, you can operate blinds in separate rooms independently. Even more, since each motor can be programmed to operate
on up to four different channels, you can program your blinds to operate independently AND grouped at the same time.
Thus, you can have your blinds open and close independently and at the end of the day you can press a single button and have
them ALL close at the same time. If you want more than 5 channel combinations, just order two or more 5 channel remote
controls.
